11/01/07 Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Westview Wolverines
It is official! The Falcon Freshman are a machine. It seems that this group of coaches and boys have the focus to continue their dominating run. This week these young men scored early and repeatedly to open up a 33-7 halftime lead. The reserves played a great second half and the final margin of victory was 40-7. The Falcons (7-0, 3-0) dominated the game on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Kevin Cuff rushed eight times for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns and showed some nifty moves and cutbacks. Johnny Wilson added two carries for 83 yards and one score. Chris Kim fell on a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown, and Garrett Larch-Miller (Larchie) returned an interception 40 yards to paydirt. He also recovered a fumble as did Scott Mainquist. The lone Westview score came on a long pass off of a fake kick and an acrobatic catch.
JT Stratigopoulos (9 tackles) flew all over the field to lead the defense. Hunter Shigley (5 tackles) provided great pass coverage blanketing recievers, and Jiarui Ren led the reserve group with 4 tackles in the second half. Scott Mainquist, Spike Carlyle and Pablo Loza had QB sacks and Brent Yamanishi, Zach Taylor, and Nick Henry logged interceptions as well.
None of this would have been possible without the excellent play by the lineman. A fun day on the field and lots of memories!
Next week is the game of games, both teams undefeated and fighting for the Palomar League Championship against our rival,
La Costa Canyon (5-3, 3-0).
Go Falcons! Beat the Mavericks!
