TP FRESHMAN
DEFEAT WESTVIEW
The Torrey Pines Falcons freshman football team improved to 6-1 on November 2 with a 35-0 win over the Westview Wolverines. Running backs Joe Driscoll with 137 yards rushing
and 3 touchdowns, and Shervin Ghanadian with 102 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, lead the way for the Falcons.
The Falcon defense started strong stopping the Wolverines on their first possession. The Falcon offense struck first on a 57 touch-down run by Driscoll, who broke several tackles on his way to the end zone. The Wolverines looked like they may answer on their second possession, but Cade Gotta intercepted a Wolverine pass and returned it 20 yards to midfield. The Falcons and Wolverines then traded possessions as both defenses played well.
The Falcon offense got it going again on their third possession. The Falcons drove down the field as Driscoll and Ghanadian had several impressive runs behind the Falcons offensive line of Spence Sarazin, Marcus Bray, Brandon Schien, Ryan Hagen, Robbie Rodriguez, and Keenan Faix. Driscoll finished off the drive with a 3 yard touch-down run.
The TP defense continued to stop the Wolverines as defensive lineman Ryan Hagen 6 tackles and a sack, Robbie
Rodriguez 6 tackles and a fumble recovery, and Spence Sarazin 2 tackles and a fumble recovery were constantly in the Wolverine backfield. Linebackers Chris Johns with 5 tackles, Marcus Bray with 4 tackles, and Michael Small with a fumble recovery, and defensive back Shane Bingham with an interception, kept the Wolverine offense scoreless. Early in the 3rd quarter, after the Falcon defense forced the Wolverines to punt from their own 1 yard line, Ghanadian took the punt and dashed 28 yards through the Wolverines for a touchdown.
When the Wolverines got the ball back, they began to march down the field behind several tough runs by Mike Nelson. But on 4th down, Ryan Hagen sacked the Wolverine quarterback Tommy Hansen for a 10 yard loss, the Falcon offense took over and they quickly made the score 28-0 on a 40 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cyrus Rahimi to Driscoll. After the teams traded possessions on turnovers, Ghanadian finished the scoring with a 33 yard touchdown run through the Wolverine defense.
The freshman Falcons are now 4-0 in the Palomar Conference. They play at La Costa Canyon on Wednesday November 8 for the Palomar League Championship. Falcon Head Coach Noel Hall and the team looks forward to a tough fought game “ there is no better way to earn a conference championship than beat a very good La Costa Canyon team on the road – our boys will be ready for this challenge.”, commented Hall.
TP FRESHMAN CONTINUE THEIR WINNING WAYS

The Torrey Pines Freshman Football Falcons continued their league dominance by defeating the Mount Carmel Sundevils 41-19 on October 27th at Mount Carmel High School. Torrey Pines running back Joe Driscoll scored 5 rushing touchdowns and gained 89 yards rushing while Taylor Crumpler added another score by running 50 yards in the impressive victory. Falcon running back Shervin Ghanadian had an impressive 49 yard run to the Sundevil 1 yard line - setting up another Driscoll touchdown.
Solid offensive line blocking by Spence Sarazin, Ryan Hagan, Keenan Faix, Marcus Bray, Robbie Rodriquez and Brandon Schein opened the holes the entire game for the Falcon running backs. Blake Busse also had an impressive game at running back as well as success by converting on all of his extra-point attempts. Quarterback Cyrus Rahimi led the falcon offense, hitting wide receiver Cade Gotta with a 65 year pass which set up yet another Driscoll towndown run just before halftime.
The Falcon defense remained stellar, stopping the Sundevil offense and quarterback Troy McClelland who was impressive throwing the ball. He hooked up with receivers Jesse Greathouse and Wesley Wallace for three touchdown passes late in the game. Sundevil running back Kenneth James was a work horse for the Sundevil office. Yet, the Falcon defense throughout the game was aggressive and stingy. Lineman Alex Ortega and Ryan Hagan
were impressive as were Falcon linebackers
Marcus Bray, Chris Johns and Nolan Fargo who held the Sundevils offense at bay while defensive backs Michael Mohr, Cade Gotta (one interception), Tyler Semerdjian and Shane Bingham and safeties Taylor Crumpler and Adam Espino kept the Sundevil passing game in check. Also impressive was the Falcon special teams player Michael Small who had two tackles.
Falcon head coach Noel Hall was equally impressed with his squad: "week to week, these kids come to play with great intensity and pride - we dominated a very good Mount Carmel team and I am very pleased with our effort." The freshman Falcons record improves to 5-1 and 3-0 in Palomar Conference league play. They host Westview High School on November 2nd.
