Falcons Win in Visalia!!

Torrey Pines captured both the Trench War and

the Passing Tournament Titles at the Redwood HS

tournament in Visalia this weekend.

They are the first Falcon team to win both titles.

THE TRENCH WARS

The Falcon lineman competed in the Trench Wars, a series

of 6 events that test the players' strength, agility, speed and quickness,

on Thursday afternoon.  They placed 1st, winning 2 out of the 6 events,

and Robbie Rodriguez was named the MVP!

To see pictures of the Trench Wars

and Passing Tournament, click here.

THE PASSING TOURNAMENT

The Falcon's success continued in the passing tournament on Friday

morning, as TP won 2 out of 3 games.  As the tournament continued

Saturday morning the Falcons, who were placed in a very tough

bracket, played extremely well, defeating both Hoover and

El Diamante in very physical games to get to the semi-finals.

In the semi-final game the Falcons showed their true mettle vs Dinuba.

Faced with several difficult situations, TP responded like champions,

winning by 3 points to advance to the Championship game

vs Mt. Whitney.  The final game was never in doubt as the

Falcons won 24-0!!!

CONGRATULATIONS

Falcons go undefeated on First Day

The Falcons began the SDSU passing tournament in prime form winning all 3 games on the first day of the tournament.  Torrey Pines faced Monte Vista in the first game and won 21-19.  Jared Wood caught the first touchdown pass for the Falcons and Hunter Shigley added 2 more TDs, as quarterback John Cabot led the Falcons.  Cabot threw to Michael Small, Shigley, and Wood to converted all 3 extra points, which ended up being the difference in the game.  Shigley also had an interception to end a Monte Vista drive late in the game.  In the second game, the Falcons beat Orange Lutheran B 21-20 in overtime.  Cabot threw touchdown passes to Small, Ryan Rodas, and Bassim El-Sabawi in regulation, then completed a TD pass to Shigley in overtime to win it.  Shane Bingham had an intercept in the Falcons win.  In the final game of the day, the Falcons beat Canyon 34-6.  Cabot threw TD passes to Rodas and Wood (2), to get the Falcons started, then Cyrus Rahimi came in to throw 2 TD passes: one to Weston Staubus and one to Small.  Bingham (2), Michael Shoen, Shigley, Adam Espino, and Weston Staubus all had interceptions for the Falcons.   Tomorrow's first game starts at 9:00am.
