Important information !
Attention TPHS Football Parents: There has been a considerable amount of information in the media about concussions, awareness of symptoms and when it is safe to return to play. TPHS football takes the long term health and safety of our athletes very seriously and would like to make you aware of the availability of a tool called ImPACT testing. This is a test that has been instituted in some of the professional sports like the NFL and NHL as well as many colleges across the country. The ImPact test is a short computerized test measuring one's cognitive function and it provides a baseline measurement that can be used as a comparison after a concussion to objectively determine whether it is safe for the athlete to return to play. (see www.impacttest.com for more information). If you are interested in an ImPact test, we are aware of two places locally where you can get it done: Scripps Encinitas Center for Concussion Management, Rehabilitation and Neurosciences (760.633.6507) or San Diego Sports Medicine (858.793.7860). We are not endorsing either, but are merely providing this information as a courtesy to our parents in case they are interested. |
